Dr. Krista Bowen
Dr. Bowen was passionate about becoming a veterinarian at a young age. Growing up on a farm, she was inspired by James Herriot’s “All Creatures Great and Small” and the descriptions of animal care. During middle school, she began shadowing a small animal veterinarian in Galveston, Texas. She worked at the same clinic throughout high school and college. Dr. Bowen graduated from Texas A&M Galveston followed by graduation from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.
Dr. Bowen started her career in rural Missouri at a mixed animal practice. Since 2016, she has worked as an associate veterinarian in small animal medicine. Dr. Bowen joined The Animal Clinic in July 2026.
Although she loves all aspects of veterinary practice, Dr. Bowen particularly enjoys feline medicine. She is a certified Cat Friendly Veterinarian through the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (FelineVMA) and active member in the association for current recommendations and guidance on the standards of feline healthcare. She loves spending time getting to know cats and their personalities.
Dr. Bowen shares a home with her daughter, a Rough Collie, and multiple kitties who love to cuddle up on the couch.
