Dr. Lea Fistein

Dr. Lea Fistein spent her childhood in Europe and graduated from the oldest vet school in Germany (the LMU-Ludwig Maximillian’s University). Inspired by “All creatures Great and Small” (by James Herriot), Dr. Fistein has always dreamed of becoming a vet and animals of all kinds, have been part of her life since she was 2 yrs old. She came to Galveston in 2001 (when her husband took a job in research at UTMB) and worked as a technician at The Animal Clinic until 2003, while completing the ECFVG program to practice as a veterinarian in the US and in Texas. She then worked as an associate veterinarian at The Animal clinic, until 2016, when she bought the practice from Dr. Diestler. Besides seeing dogs and cats, Dr. Fistein enjoys working on exotic and pocket pets, as well as Galveston’s wildlife and even small farm animals. Her passions include soft tissue surgery and ultrasound. In her free time, she spends every minute with her children, her horses and all the other animals with whom she shares her life.
